OPENING EXHIBITION

Art of Ornament: From Weaponry to Wearable Art is a group show that celebrates the beauty of handmade jewelry and sculptural metalwork. The exhibition includes a line of jewelry entitled, “Toolery”, resin castings of gun parts and “Marine Knives”, which challenge our perception of functional objects and can be seen as purely decorative and expressive art. Other pieces do the complete opposite–artists take jewelry which has a purpose of being decorative, and design them to function as weapons. All works utilize ancient jewelry techniques to bring a modern aesthetic to ancient tools and wearable pieces like rings and necklaces.

Art of Ornament: From Weaponry to Wearable Art will be on display at the Liloveve Gallery from October 28th through November 18, 2011.
